We went with our neighbor to a Eastern Bay, a Chinese restaurant in Grandview, to celebrate the beginning of the Year of the Dragon. Actually, we didn't know it was Chinese New Year, we just had a craving that had to be satisfied and were lucky to enjoy the festivities, along with the excellent food. There was a Lion Dance troupe around the restaurant to scare away the evil spirits and welcome luck and fortune, more info here. There were huge drums and many percussion instruments that accompanies the dancing lion, so I was nervous that Blakeley would get upset (she usually isn't a fan of loud noises in strange places) but she just looked on and enjoyed watching the huge lion dancing, playing, eating radishes, and then falling asleep. The lion gave her a special little dance stopping at our table and playing with her. It was a first for us to be part of the Chinese tradition; it was so fun!
